Meet Vanessa Hale

Extended Bio

Vanessa Hale is a New Hampshire-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose music explores the depths of human experience with unflinching honesty and tender vulnerability. Born and raised in Brookline, New Hampshire, Hale's artistry is rooted in the landscape of her childhood—tall trees, cold winters, and the wild imagination that flourished within it. A graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she studied voice, Hale has spent the past eight years developing a songwriting practice that serves as both personal excavation and communal healing. Her songs navigate the complexities of friendships and relationships, the call to reconnect with nature and the world around us, and the bridge between soul and wilderness. Through her work, she creates space for the darker, more challenging aspects of the human condition, holding room for both her own vulnerability and that of her listeners. Hale's relationship with music has been foundational to her identity since childhood, and it has served as her guide through ongoing mental health challenges. "When even I cannot hear myself, music helps me listen and understand," she reflects. This deeply personal connection to songwriting—as a tool for understanding, acceptance, and remembering one's place in the greater whole—infuses her work with authenticity and emotional resonance. Her debut EP, Grow In The Silence, features five songs written in 2023 and 2024, recorded live over three days at a lake house in New Hampshire with a gathering of faithful friends. The project documents a transformational period of personal struggle and evolution, exploring themes of codependency, depression, self-sabotage, and the journey toward rediscovering personal power and freedom. Recorded during the Winter Solstice of 2024, the EP served as a ceremonial closing of one chapter and the welcoming of renewal—"like a brave seed climbing through the dark soil and into the light." Hale believes in music's ancient and universal power to share stories, express emotions, and build community. Her greatest joy lies in sharing her lived experience and being part of the movement to restore creativity and music-making to everyday life.
